Back to the Egg er det sjuande og siste studioalbumet til det britisk-amerikanske bandet Wings, gjeve ut i 1979 på Columbia Records i Amerika og Parlophone i Storbritannia. Paul McCartney var produsent på albumet i lag med Chris Thomas, der McCartney byrja å vri musikken mot moderne trendar som new wave og punk. Albumet vart spelt inn med dei nye Wings-medlemmane Laurence Juber og Steve Holley. Back to the Egg er bygd kring eit laust tema om eit arbeidande band og vart spelt inn i ein særs aktiv periode for bandet med turnering og arbeid med fleire fjernsyns- og filmprosjekt.

Innspelinga av albumet byrja i juni 1978 og varte nesten eitt år. Innspelinga fann stad i Spirit of Ranachan Studios i Skottland, Lympne Castle i Kent og Abbey Road Studios og Replica Studio i London. Det sistnemnde vart bygd av McCartney som ein eksakt kopi av Abbey Road Studio 2, då dette ikkje var tilgjengeleg. Wings vendte attende til Abbey Road i mars 1979 for å fullføre albumet. Dei filma så inn fleire musikkvideoar i Lympne og andre stader, som vart til fjernsynsshowet Back to the Egg.

Back to the Egg fekk negativ kritikk då det kom ut. Sjølv om albumet nådde høgt på listene verda over og selde til platinaplate i USA, vert det rekna som kommersielt mislukka samanlikna med tidlegare Wings-album. Av singlane – «Old Siam, Sir», «Getting Closer» og «Arrow Through Me» – var det berre «Getting Closer» som nådde Topp 20 i Storbritannia eller Amerika. Songen «Rockestra Theme» vart spelt inn med ei rekkje gjestemusikarar frå The Who, Led Zeppelin og Pink Floyd og vann Grammyprisen for beste rockeinstrumental i 1980.

Wings turnerte i Storbritannia for å marknadsføre albumet, men den planlagde verdsturneen enda i januar 1980, då McCartney vart arrestert i Japan for innehaving av marijuana.[12] Gruppa vart oppløyst tidleg året etter. Back to the Egg kom ut på ny i 1993, med bonusspor, og i 2007 for iTunes med singelen «Goodnight Tonight».
