Border Gateway Protocol (BGP) er ein rutingsprotokoll som blant anna vert nytta i kjernen av Internett. Reint funksjonelt så set han opp ein tabell over IP-nettverk eller «prefix» som spesifiserer tilgangen mellom autonome system (AS). Protokollen er skildra som ein path vector-protokoll. BGP brukar ikkje vanlege IGP-verdiar, men nyttar trafikkbanar, nettverkspolitikk og/eller regelsett.
