Don't Shoot Me I'm Only the Piano Player er det sjette studioalbumet til Elton John. Albumet vart utgjeve i 1973 og produsert av Gus Dudgeon. For andre gong på rad nådde eit Elton John-album fyrsteplassen på listene i USA.
Albumet inneheldt to Topp 10-singlar, «Daniel» og «Crocodile Rock». Sistnemnde vart Elton Johns fyrste singel på fyrsteplass i USA. Albumet selde om lag 14 millionar eksemplar verda over. Dette er det eine av berre to album frå Johns band med Davey Johnstone, Dee Murray og Nigel Olsson der perkusjonisten Ray Cooper ikkje medverkar. Igjen reiste musikarane til Frankrike og spelte inn albumet i Château d'Hérouville, som på den tida vart kalla «Strawberry Studios». Blåsarane på albumet var arrangert av produsent Gus Dudgeon
