John Winston Ono Lennon (9. oktober 1940–8. desember 1980), betre kjend som John Lennon, var låtskrivar, vokalist og gitarist i det verdsberømte bandet The Beatles. Av dei mest kjende låtane frå The Beatles er «I Want to Hold Your Hand», «Help!», «Norwegian Wood», «Strawberry Fields Forever», «Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds», «Come Together» og «Across the Universe». Som soloartist produserte han songar som «Give Peace a Chance», «Imagine», «Woman» og Happy Xmas (War is Over).

Lennon gjorde seg også bemerka som politisk aktivist, kunstnar og delvis som forfattar. Han var først gift med Cynthia Powell, men forlèt henne for den japanske kunstnaren Yoko Ono i 1969, og endra samtidig namn til John Ono Lennon.

Etter at The Beatles vart oppløyst i 1970 hadde han ein kort, men markant solokarriere i perioden 1970–1975 med ei rekkje politiske og eksperimenterande album. Etter ein lenger pause frå 1975–1980 der han konsentrerte seg om familielivet med Yoko og sonen Sean, fekk han eit comeback med albumet Double Fantasy i 1980.

John Lennon vart skoten med fire skot av fanatikaren Mark David Chapman utanfor heimen sin i New York like før kl. 23.00 den 8. desember 1980.
