Lester Embree

Lester Embree er ein amerikansk filosof.

Embree tok doktorgrad i filosofi ved the New School for Social Research i New York i 1972. Rettleiar var Aron Gurwitch. Andre lærarar ved New School var Alfred Schütz og Dorion Cairns.

Frå 1990 var han professor ved Florida Atlantic University (William F. Dietrich Eminent Scholar) og underviste før det ved universiteta i Northern Illinois og Duquesne. Han var leiar for the «Centre for Advanced Research in Phenomenology» i over 20 år. I tillegg har han vore med og grunnlagt «Organization of Phenomenological Organizations» og Newsletter of Phenomenology.

Embree har redigert og publisert ei rad bøker og artiklar om moderne filosofi, (konsititutiv) fenomenologi og vitskapsteori. Han har og engasjert seg i omsetjingar av europeisk fenomenologi og har arbeidd med teoretiseringar kring arkeologi, sjukepleieteori og økologi mellom anna. Innføringsboka hans om fenomenologi Refleksiv analyse er omsett til ei rad språk.
