The Jackson 5 var ei amerikansk popgruppe som bestod av syskena i den afro-amerikanske familien Jackson frå Gary, Indiana. Popgruppa var aktiv frå 1962 til 1990, og vart byrjinga til den musikalske karrieren til Michael Jackson.

Familien Jackson [endre]
Foreldra til Jackson-familien heitte Joseph og Katherine Jackson. Katherine Jackson var Jehovas vitne, og oppdrog ungane sine i det same. Dei fekk til saman ti born, og dei fleste av desse vart profesjonelle musikarar i ei eller anna form.

Gruppekarrieren [endre]
The Jackson 5 begynte med brørne Jackie, Tito, Michael, Jermaine og Marlon. I 1969 fekk dei platekontrakt med Motown Records, og dette førte til at heile familien Jackson flytte til Los Angeles. Michael Jackson, yngstemann i gruppa, var frontfigur då dei slo gjennom med sin fyrste singel, I Want You Back. Dei starta eit samarbeid med songarinna Diana Ross, som hjelpte dei med debutplata Diana Presents The Jackson 5 frå same året. I åra 1970 - 1975 gav gruppa ut til saman ni album og vart svært populære.
I 1975 vart Jermaine Jackson erstatta med veslebror til Michael, Randy Jackson. Både Jermaine og Michael Jackson begynte med solokarrierar på åttitalet, noko som gjorde at Jackson 5 vart mindre aktive. Jermaine vart med att i 1984, men både Michael og Marlon slutta i 1987.
Nokre av dei mest kjende singlane til The Jackson 5, var I Want You Back, ABC, Blame It on the Boogie og Can You Feel It. I 1997 vart The Jackson 5 innvald i The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
