Ethelreda Lewis (1875–1. august 1946) var ein sørafrikansk forfattar av engelsk opphav. Ho er kjend for å ha gjeve bøkene om og av Trader Horn eit litterært språk. Lewis nytta også pseudonymet R. Hernekin Baptist.
Ethelreda Lewis var fødd i Derbyshire i England, og kom til Sør-Afrika i 1904.[1] Ho døydde i Port Alfred i Kapp-provinsen i 1946.[1]
Lewis tilhøyrde den «kvite» folkegruppa i Sør-Afrika, men var politisk liberal.[2] Medan det berømte samarbeidet hennar med Trader Horn skildra eit eventyrarliv i det koloniserte Afrika, var hennar eigne verk sterkt kritiske til den imperialistiske utnyttinga av innfødde kvinner.[3]
Den første boka om Trader Horn kom på norsk som Trader Horn : Elfenbenskysten i tidenes morgen : den gamle kremmer Aloysius Horn's egenhendig skrevne erindringer og livshistorie i 1942.[4]
