«It's Alright, Ma (I'm Only Bleeding)» er ein song av Bob Dylan på albumet hans Bringing It All Back Home frå 1965. Songen er skildra av biografane hans som «eit mørkt meisterverk», ein av Dylan-songane med dei mest minneverdige bileta.[1] Han vart skriven sommaren 1964 og vart først framført på konsert i New York City den 31. oktober 1964. Dylan introduserte songen der som «It's Alright, Ma, It's Life and Life Only».[2]

Songen vart spelt av Roger McGuinn for filmen Easy Rider i 1969.

McGuinn's group The Byrds also occasionally performed the song live. One of the Byrds' live covers is featured on the bonus disc of the 2000 remaster of 1970's (Untitled) album, called (Untitled)/(Unissued). This version also appears as a bonus track on the 2002 remastered version of the compilation The Byrds Play Dylan.

While preachers preach of evil fates
Teachers teach that knowledge waits
Can lead to hundred-dollar plates
Goodness hides behind its gates
But even the president of the United States
Sometimes must have to stand naked.

Bob Dylan

Clinton Heylin skriv i biografien sin Bob Dylan: Behind the Shades Revisited at songen «opna ein heil ny sjanger av fingerpeikande songar, ikkje berre for Dylan men for heile popverda». I tillegg skriv han at «It's Alright, Ma» truleg inneheld fleire «minneverdige aforismar» enn nokon annan Dylan-song.[3]

Den mest kjende av desse linjene er «he not busy being born is busy dying» frå andre verset, som vart nytta av Jimmy Carter i nominasjonstalen sin i 1976.[4] Al Gore, fortalte under presidentvalkampen i 2000 at dette var favorittsitatet hans.[5]

Eit anna kjend døme er linja «Money doesn't talk, it swears», som står oppført i The Oxford Dictionary of Quotations.[6] I tillegg fører Columbia Dictionary of Quotations opp tre andre linjer frå songen: «Although the masters make the rules, for the wisemen and the fools», «But even the president of the United States sometimes must have to stand naked» og «Everything from toy guns that spark to flesh-colored Christs that glow in the dark, it's easy to see without looking too far that not much is really sacred.»[7]

Songen vart spelt i siste episoden av serien The Sopranos.
