The Bonnie Ship the Diamond

«The Bonnie Ship the Diamond» er ein skotsk folkesong. Han fortel soga om skipet «The Diamond» som segla til Vest-Grønland ved Davissundet for å fiske etter grønlandskval. Det er usikkert om skipet forliste i 1819 eller i 1830. I lag med kring femti britiske kvalbåtar nådde dei fangstområda tidleg i juni, ein månad før dei venta på grunn av gode vindtilhøve. Dei same vindane førte derimot til at det dreiv is inn i bukta dei ankra opp i, og det meste av flåten vart stengde inne, mellom anna «The Diamond», «The Resolution», «The Rattler of Leigh» og «Eliza Swan» som òg er nemnde i songen. 20 skip vart knuste av isen og mange kvalfangarar fraus i hel eller drukna. «Eliza Swan» var av skipa som kom seg laus og kom seg heim att. Nokre av desse skipa veit ein forliste i 1830, så soga kan vere ei blanding av eit forlis i 1819 og eit anna i 1830.
