The Explosive Little Richard er det første albumet Little Richard gav ut på Okeh. Det var produsert av den gamle venen hans, Larry Williams og Johnny «Guitar» Watson og reflekterte den dåverande soul-stilen og Motown. Albumet var ei blanding av coverversjonar og orignalar, men inneheld ingen songar skrivne av Richard sjølv. Trass i den nye retninga, gjekk ikkje albumet inn på salslistene.
