Clark Ashton Smith (13. januar 1893–14. august 1961) var ein amerikansk forfattar og kunstnar. Han fekk tidleg lokal anerkjenning, stort sett gjennom entusiasmen til George Sterling, for tradisjonelle vers i same stil som Swinburne. Som poet er Smith gruppert saman med vestkystromantikarnae som Joaquin Miller, Sterling og Nora May French og blir hugsa som «The Last of the Great Romantics» (‘Den siste av dei store romantikarane’) og «The Bard of Auburn». Arbeidet til Smith blei rost av samtidige. H.P. Lovecraft skreiv at «in sheer daemonic strangeness and fertility of conception, Clark Ashton Smith is perhaps unexcelled», og Ray Bradbury sa at Smith «filled my mind with incredible worlds, impossibly beautiful cities, and still more fantastic creatures».[1]
