Sigourney Weaver (fødd Susan Alexandra Weaver, 8. oktober 1949) er ein USA-amerikansk filmskodespelar og filmprodusent frå New York. Ho fekk sitt gjennombrot i Woody Allen sin dramafilm Annie og jeg i 1977 og sin fyrste hovudrolle i 1979 da ho skildra Ellen Ripley i kassasuksessen Alien – den 8. passasjeren. Weaver har seinare skildra den same rollefiguren i tre oppfølgjarar: Aliens (1986), Alien 3 (1994) og Alien: Oppstandelsen (1997). Rolleskildringa i Aliens ga Weaver hennar fyrste Oscarnominasjon,[1] ein nominasjon som i dag er ansett som ein milestolpe inna godkjenninga av science fiction, action og grøssere. Rollefiguren blir sett på som sentral i arbeidet med å utfordra kjønnsroller på film, og har gjentekne gangar blitt stemt fram som den beste heltinna i filmhistoria. I februar 2015 takka ho ja til å gjenta rolla som Ripley i den planlagd femte Alien-filmen, med Neill Blomkamp som regissør.[2]

Weaver har elles hatt roller i filmsuksesser som Ghostbusters (1984), Ghostbusters II (1989) og Avatar (2009). Ho har blitt nominert til Golden Globe sju gongar, og har vunne to gongar: ho vann prisen for beste kvinnelege hovudrolle i ein dramafilm med I gorillaens rike og beste kvinnelege birolle for Working Girl, båe under prisutdelinga i 1989.[3][4] Med dette vart ho den fyrste personen til å vinne to skuespillprisar på same Golden Globe-utdeling. Ho vann også ein BAFTA-pris for beste kvinnelege birolle for rolla i The Ice Storm (1997).[5] I tillegg til dette har ho blitt nominert tre gongar til Oscar-prisen, tre gongar til Emmy-prisen og seks gongar til Saturn Awards (av desse har ho vunne to stykk).

Ho har også hatt roller i filmar som Brennpunkt Djakarta (1982), Dave (1993), Death and the Maiden (1994), Copycat (1995), A Map of the World (1999) og Galaxy Quest (1999). Sigourney Weaver har også vist seg på TV-skjermen med skrekkfilmen Snow White: A Tale of Terror (1997), dramafilmen Prayers for Bobby (2009) og den politikkrelaterte miniserien Political Animals (2012). Ho har fått tilnamnet «dronninga av science fiction» på grunn av sine mange bidrag til science fiction-historia. Weaver har også hatt mindre biroller i film- og TV-suksesser som Futurama (2002), WALL-E (2008), Paul (2011) og The Cabin in the Woods (2012).

Weaver har også hatt talrike roller på scena, og blei nominert til ein Drama Desk-pris for prestasjonen i musikalen Das Lusitania Songspiel (1980).[6] I dette stykket var ho også medforfattar med klassekameraten Christopher Durang. Ho ble elles nominert til ein Tony-pris for beste kvinnelege birolle for rolleskildringa i Broadway-stykket Hurlyburly (1984).[7] Weaver vende tilbake til Broadway-scena for fyrste gang på 15 år i 2013, da ho skildra filmstjerna Masha i det Tony-vinnande skodespelet Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike.[8]
