Dismal Island er ei hovudsakleg isdekt øy og den største av Faure Islands, som ligg i Marguerite Bay utanfor vestkysten av Graham Land. Faure Islands vart oppdaga og først kartlagde i 1909 av Den franske antarktisekspedisjonen under Jean-Baptiste Charcot. Gruppa vart vitja og kartlagde i 1949 av Falkland Islands Dependencies Survey, som kalla denne øya opp etter den særs aude og livlause framtoninga.[1]
