Big Brother & the Holding Company er debutalbum til Big Brother and the Holding Company og studiodebuten til Janis Joplin. Albumet kom ut sommaren 1967 etter at bandet hadde hatt suksess på Monterey Pop Festival. Albumet gjorde det greit nok og nådde 60. plass på albumlista. Ein singel frå plata, Joplin-songen «Down on Me», nådde Topp 40. Eitt år etter albumet kom ut, gav bandet ut det andre albumet, Cheap Thrills som vart ein massiv hitt. «The Last Time» og «Coo Coo» er to singlar som ikkje finst på den originale Mainstream-utgåva, men som vart lagt til då Columbia Records gav ut albumet på ny i 1970-åra.[1]
