Midnight Moonlight inneheld både originale songar og coverversjonar, framført som bluegrass- og folkrock. Instrumenteringar er hovdusakleg akustisk, utan bruk av trommer. Dette står i kontrast til tidlegare New Riders-album, som la vekt på elektrisk countryrock.
