Peel Island i Cumbria

Peel Island (tidlegare kalla Montague Island eller Gridiron[1]) er ei av tre øayr i Coniston Water i Lake District i Cumbria i England. Dei to andre er Fir Island (som er landfast så lenge vasstanden ikkje er høg) og Oak Island.[2] Ho er kjend for å ha inspirert til Wild Cat Island i bøkene Swallows and Amazons av Arthur Ransome. I dag er øya ein populær turistdestinasjon,[2] og høyrer til National Trust.[3]
Peel Island vart gjeven til National Trust av hertug John Montagu-Douglas-Scott av Buccleuch, i lag med 4,5 hektar skog i 1932.[4]
