Janis Eddy Fink (fødd 7. april 1951) er ein amerikansk artist og låtskrivar kjend som Janis Ian. Ho var på sitt mest aktive i 1960- og 70-åra. Ho slo gjennom med låten «At Seventeen» frå 1975-albumet Between the Lines, som nådde til topps på billboard-lista.
I tillegg til musikarkarrieren er Janis Ian òg spaltist og science fiction-forfattar.[1]
Ian har vore ein kritikar av musikk- og copyrightindustrien, som ho meiner ikkje ivaretar rettane til opphavspersonane. Blant anna av denne grunnen har ho offentleggjort fleire av songane sine til gratis nedlasting.

Ian blei fødd i ein jødisk familie i New York by.[2] Ho voks opp i New Jersey, først på ein gard, og gjekk på East Orange High School i East Orange i New Jersey.[3]
Som barn beundra ho Joan Baez og Odetta. Ho starta med pianotimar då ho var seks år gammal. Då Ian var ungdom hadde ho lært seg å spela orgel, cembalo, fransk horn, fløyte og gitar. I ein alder av 12 skrev ho sin første låt, «Hair of Spun Gold», som seinare blei publisert i musikkmagasinet Broadside, og sidan blei spelt på debutalbumet hennar. I 1964 endra ho offisielt namnet sitt til Janis Ian, med broren Eric sitt mellomnamn som sitt nye etternamn.[2]

Ian har vunne to Grammyprisar. Den første fekk ho i 1975 for At Seventeen, og den andre i 2013 i kategorien «Best Spoken Word Album», for sjølvbiografien Society's Child
