Klaus Schulze (4. august 1947–26. april 2022) var ein tysk electronica-musikar og komponist. Han har òg nytta aliaset Richard Wahnfried. Han var ei kort stund medlem av electronicabanda Tangerine Dream og Ash Ra Tempel før han konsentrerte seg om solokarrieren sin, der han i løpet av fem tiår har gjeve ut meir enn 60 album.
Biografi
[endre | endre wikiteksten]I 1969 var Klaus Schulze trommeslagar i ein av dei tidlege utgåvene av Tangerine Dream og spelte på debutalbumet Electronic Meditation.[1] Han møtte Edgar Froese frå Tangerine Dream i Zodiac Club i Berlin i Vest-Tyskland. I 1970 slutta han i denne gruppa for å danne Ash Ra Tempel[1] i lag med Manuel Göttsching og Hartmut Enke. I 1971 slutta han i denne gruppa òg, etter berre eitt album, for å konsentrere seg om solokarrieren sin. I 1972 gav Schulze ut debutalbumet sitt, Irrlicht med orgel og innspelinga av eit orkester som var filtrert gjennom så mange effektar at det ikkje var mogeleg å kjenne att. Trass i at han ikkje nytta synthesizerar vert dette proto-ambient-verket rekna som ein milepåle i elektronisk musikk. På det neste albumet hans, Cyborg, nytta han ein EMS Synthi A-synthesiser.
Sidan den gong har Schulze vore særs aktiv og gjeve ut meir enn 40 originale album. Høgdepunkt av desse er mellom andre Timewind i 1975, Moondawn i 1976 (det første albumet hans med Moog synthesiser), Dune i 1979, og det doble In Blue frå 1995. I 1976 starta han i lag med den japanske perkusjonisten og låtskrivaren Stomu Yamashta den kortliva «supergruppa» Go,[1] med mellom andre Steve Winwood, Michael Shrieve og Al Di Meola. Dei gav ut to studioalbum, (Go i 1976 og Go Too i 1977).
Klaus Schulze hadde ein meir organisk lyd enn mange andre electronicamusikarar på denne tida. Ofte nytta han ikkje-elektroniske instrument, som akustisk gitar eller manneleg operastemme.
